The Opening

Thick, unnatural fog clings to your boots as you enter Oakhaven, where the only sound is the rhythmic thud of a woodcutter's axe. A pale child stares at you from a window, clutching a headless doll, before her mother yanks the curtains shut. The air smells of damp earth and a metallic tang that definitely isn't rust.

Ticking Clock·Every dawn, another villager loses the ability to speak. Once twelve villagers are silenced, the ritual completes. Seven have already fallen.

Background Lore

Oakhaven was built over an ancient burial ground of a forgotten fey court. For centuries, the seals held, but recent logging in the Blackwood Grove has thinned the veil.

What the World Knows

Several merchants have disappeared on the road to Oakhaven, and the village has gone silent, missing its last two tax payments. The Crown suspects a bandit blockade or a local uprising.
