The characters arrive at the Palace of Pale Bells as dawn turns the surrounding mountains silver. The court is unnaturally quiet. Servants speak in flat voices, musicians have forgotten their melodies, and the queen's ceremonial rose has become colorless stone. Queen Elianor leads the characters to a balcony overlooking the kingdom, where a trail of silver roses climbs toward the forbidden First Peak. She gives them a roseglass compass and explains that the third moonrise will mark the final moment before the kingdom's soul fades.
Queen Elianor Vale
Queen Elianor summons the characters to the Palace of Pale Bells through a royal messenger carrying a colorless rose. She offers safe conduct, royal favor, and access to the mountain roads. If the characters hesitate, she admits that she has already forgotten the face of someone she loved and fears the same fate will soon affect the entire kingdom.

If the Heart is not recovered before the third moonrise, Valedorn will retain its bodies and buildings but lose the emotional bonds that make it a kingdom. The fae courts may close the mountain passes forever, while Caelan's perfect peace could erase love, grief, ambition, and free will alike.
Background Lore
The kingdom of Valedorn was founded around the Luminous Heart, a living crystal said to be the first tear shed by the moon when the mountains were born. The Heart does not merely power the realm's wards. It reflects the love, hope, and shared purpose of its people. For centuries, the fae courts, mountain clans, and human valleys maintained an elegant peace through the annual Roseglass Accord. Now the Heart has vanished, leaving the kingdom pale, dreamless, and slowly turning to stone. The trail leads upward through enchanted passes, abandoned observatories, and the hidden gardens of the fae.
The Luminous Heart is the mystical source of Valedorn's emotional vitality and the symbol of its alliance with the fae courts. When the Heart disappeared, the kingdom began losing its dreams, warmth, and capacity for affection. Queen Elianor has asked the characters to retrieve it from the forbidden First Peak, where silver roses now mark a dangerous route through enchanted mountain territory. Lord Caelan Thorn, a former royal adviser and master of the mountain's old observatory, is suspected of taking the Heart. The characters must decide whether restoring the Heart requires sacrifice, forgiveness, or a new kind of pact between the kingdom and the fae.
