The Opening

A pirate crew has gone missing after their ship was torn apart somewhere above the atmosphere, and their last signal begged for help from inside the wreckage. Bring them home before salvage crews, rival corsairs, or the dark thing in the debris field claim them first. The cause of the disaster is unknown, and that is the most dangerous part.

Set the Scene

Captain Veyra Quill spreads a star-scorched map across the table and points to a ring of dead lights hanging above the planet's upper dark. 'The Dawn Rake is still out there,' she says, voice tight with restraint. 'Find my crew, bring back what happened to them, and do not let anyone else board that wreck before you do.'

Rumours

  1. 01
The wreck flickers with lantern-light even though its power core is dead.
  2. 02
One survivor claims they saw a figure walking outside the hull without a suit.
  3. 03
Salvagers have been paid to arrive late, not first.
  4. 04
A priest of the upper docks says the stars have been 'quietly listening' near the Broken Halo.
Stakes

If the crew is not recovered quickly, they will die, be captured, or vanish into the mystery behind the wreck. If the truth is mishandled, the same force may strike again and turn the rescue into the first chapter of a larger disaster.

Ticking Clock·Every few hours the debris field drifts closer to the atmosphere, salvage crews approach from the outer lanes, and the survivors lose air, light, and hope.

Background Lore

The shipping lanes beyond the planetary atmosphere have become a hunting ground for sky-pirates, relic smugglers, and things that should not survive the void. A known crew of corsairs from the ship Dawn Rake vanished after sending a fractured distress burst from a field of glittering debris called the Broken Halo. Their vessel is now stranded somewhere above the atmosphere, caught between dead orbit, drifting wreckage, and a strange silence that no augur can explain.

What the World Knows

A pirate ship vanished above the atmosphere after sending a broken distress call. The party must rescue the stranded crew from the wreck, protect them from scavengers, and bring them home before the debris field becomes a graveyard.
