The Opening

He offers good coin for a dangerous list of reagents found only in the secret Verdant Veil, but warns that the grove has begun defending itself against anyone who enters. If you want the ingredients, you must find the hidden grove, harvest its gifts without killing it, and return before a rival alchemist claims the heartroot.”

Set the Scene

Bramli's workshop smells of hot metal, citrus, and smoke. Copper pipes rattle overhead as a small glass flask pops on the counter, spraying harmless green foam across a ledger. Bramli wipes the foam away, circles a long list of ingredients, and explains that the only place they grow is a hidden grove in the Ashenridge foothills.

Stakes

If the party succeeds, Bramli's workshop gains powerful new mixtures and the Verdant Veil survives as a protected source of magical reagents. If they fail, the grove may be poisoned, the mine may collapse, and an unstable heartroot strain may spread into the valley.

Ticking Clock·The grove's moonlit entrance remains stable for one night. After the next moonrise, Veyra's sabotage will either collapse the heartroot chamber or release volatile magic into the valley.

Beyond the Ashenridge foothills lies the Verdant Veil, a secret magical grove that appears only when moonlight passes through a ring of standing stones. The grove is a living alchemical ecosystem, producing reagents that cannot be cultivated elsewhere. For generations, its guardian spirits allowed careful harvests, but recent mining blasts have disturbed the grove and awakened a volatile force beneath its roots.
